Leaving Friday moring.....going for last minute getaway to portland. dinner at fore street fri night
Need to pick hotel. I did want to get massage too. Which one would you pick???

Portland Harbor Hotel, or Regency or Hilton Garden????
We like the Regency because it feels more like a ';traditional'; European continental hotel, with each room different from all the others. That being said, all three of these are truly fine hotels and I think you%26#39;ll enjoy enjoy any of them.
Portland Harbor Hotel, or Regency or Hilton Garden????
thanks for your reply. some posts have said that the Hilton is brighter and the Regency was kinda dark and outdated. The pics on the website look good and the Reg. has a spa. What do you think?
We have stayed several times at the Hilton Garden and at the Regency. No complaints on either. If the rates are comparable at the time, we opt for the Regency. It does have a somewhat European small hotel feel about it, and the Armory Lounge has the best martinis in town.
Both are close to Fore Street---the HG closer (through the parking lot).
Thanks. Pron will go with regency. They have spa and great martinis. Both sound good to me! Thanks for your help!!!
Ok...just checked out Pommegranite Inn and thought it was lovley. The breakfasts sound amazing! They say is about a 10 min walk to downtown and can set up massages for me downtown. But is it worth the walk? We would be going back and forth from downtown twice for the massages and then for dinner? sounds little much for one night???
The walk%26#39;s not bad, but you%26#39;ll be glad to have the spa right there. Stay at the Regency. (They have packages with room %26amp; spa, assume you%26#39;re looking at that.)
Thanks so much for your reply. I booked the Regency and massages there too :) Being a Portland expert, may I ask you restaurant recc for breakfast and lunch? We are going to Fore Street for dinner Fri night. Thanks for your help :)

I%26#39;m no ';expert';, but I guess I%26#39;ve got enough knowledge after living here my whole life that I%26#39;ve formed enough opinions! You%26#39;re staying right in the Old Port, and will get a great feel for the city and the folks who live here by wandering around. Hope, if that%26#39;s your thing, that you can catch a pub/bar or two. RiRa%26#39;s for Irish (music on weekends) is a favorite. There%26#39;s so many restaurants, it%26#39;s hard to know what you%26#39;d like. You%26#39;re doing the obligatory Fore Street for sup, so I suggest Becky%26#39;s Diner for breakfast and the Lobster Shack for lunch. Becky%26#39;s is a classic diner, where you%26#39;ll rub elbows with senators and lobstermen. She%26#39;s got a website that%26#39;s a hoot, too. http://www.beckys.com/
The Lobster Shack is a 20 or so-minute car ride to Cape Elizabeth. It%26#39;s a paper plate place that cooks extraordinarily fresh seafood and has a spot on the rocks where the views are uninterrupted all the way to Europe. http://lobstershacktwolights.com/
Have fun!
Thanks so much for the suggestions :) I will look them up when I am there. Have a great night!

Hello all,
Just got back from Portland and wanted to give my review.
Regency was great. We took advantage of spa and got 60 min massages. Hotel gave out $10 coupon too. Also used the gym twice. I was the only one in it both times! The mats were dirty but everything else was fine.
Fore Street was amazing! Had a great dinner and would go back in a heartbeat!
Portland itself seemed quiet. Alot of shops had vacancy signs and noticed that business was slow. All in all, fun close trip for a night getaway. Ohm Binliff%26#39;s for breakfast wa yummy as well as Two Fat Cat Bakery!
