I%26#39;m planning a trip for two around June 10th. We%26#39;d like a somewhat quiet area with self-catering facilities (we%26#39;re vegan and know there will be very limited options, if any, for dining out, even in Bar Harbor.) The price at both Acadia Cabins and Eden Village seems right, but I%26#39;d love some opinions on which would be better.
Acadia Cabins or Eden Village?
I don%26#39;t know about the lodging, but there is a Vegan restaurant in Bar Harbor called Eden that you might want to try for a night out. The Burning Tree also offers many meatless dishes, probably some vegan ones as well.
Acadia Cabins or Eden Village?
We%26#39;ve never stayed at Eden Village, so I can%26#39;t offer an opinion, but we liked Acadia Cabins so much last year that we booked a week-long stay again for this summer. The cabins offer everything you%26#39;ll need to self-cater: home-quality appliances, cookware, flatware, etc. The keepers are terrific, the location can%26#39;t be beat, the price is right...in short, I cannot recommend a stay at Acadia Cabins highly enough. But you know, preferences are highly subjective, and in the end, you have to trust your gut. We took a bit of a blind leap staying here for the first time last year after several previous summer weeks elsewhere on MDI and on nearby Deer Isle, but I just got a good vibe talking to one of the owners on the phone while I was making my reservation, and we were not disappointed. If you%26#39;re looking for a great getaway, a disconnect from hectic city life, you could do A LOT worse than here.
FYI...There%26#39;s a great speciality grocer within walking distance of the cabins, it%26#39;s right in town and it should serve your dietary needs well. (We%26#39;re not vegans, but I remember from last year the store had a HUGE selection of fresh and roasted veggies, lots of hummuses and spreads, cheeses, etc.) It%26#39;s a bit pricy, but I see from your profile that Brooklyn is in the house, so it won%26#39;t be horribly sticker shocking if you%26#39;re already accustomed to paying city prices for groceries -- think Whole Foods sted of Trader Joe%26#39;s. And besides, the lodging is so reasonably priced you%26#39;ll have a few bucks left over for meals. Hope that helps...
